What's going on at BWS
Today I changed my Google business listing. My space in Corrales is a gallery and we're open from 11am-5pm every day.
I have the ability to move things around in the center and set up my backdrop and lights in there for studio photography but these days I'm mostly taking headshot clients and artists who want headshots and photographs of their pieces. I have some really cool product photography backgrounds and I have a couple of collapsible easy backdrops for headshots.
I think I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I can't do all the things. haha
Y'all, I wear a LOT of other hats and I'm tired. Let me make a list for you:
I'm a wife and mom with two teenage-ish boys who need to be taken all over for activities.
I have 3 Great Danes and an elderly cat.
I'm an artist and I'm supposed to find time to paint. ;)
I run this little gallery (with help...there are other artists in the gallery with me)
I'm the Vice President and current studio tour director for the Corrales Art Studio Tour. (It's a big time commitment)
I'm part of Ghostwolf Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque and I sit there 3 +/- times a month.
I volunteer at On a Wing and a Prayer once a week and help out with the education birds (this is forever blocked off in my calendar and is non-negotiable time because it's very important to me)
I do design work here and there, making ads and such because I'm pretty good with Adobe software. I made this years catalog for the tour and I illustrated a geology book during the pandemic.
I'm reiki I and II certified and going to do reiki III this spring (also very important to me)
As you can see, I have a lot going on without doing any photography and most of it is art related. No complaints here because that is the life I have always wanted. But something had to give and so I have slowly backed off from putting photography out there.
I also have some ideas taking form in my head that are going to require some thought and planning before I put them out there.
For now, I'm thinking about transitioning the headshots/art piece photography over to my other website, because my fine art photos are also there.
Anyway, that's what's happening! It is scary to let something big go, but that means you make space for something else. I really want this little gallery to take off so I'm going to give it some undivided attention.
I would like to say a big thank you to all of the clients over the years who have let me into their families and hearts. I love y'all more than you know. Thank you.
